congelava gli sguardi ed i posti tenuti occupati.
Era solo il primo di tanti incontri.
Mi sono addormentato sotto un cielo incendiato dal sole.

Ed avrei potuto dormire per sempre,
ma una mattina di fine Marzo,
gli operai nell'appartamento accanto
hanno sfondato il muro per sbaglio.
Non ero solo per la prima volta,
e ho aspettato che te ne andassi
per raccogliere intonaco e mattoni
e donarli alla mia collezione.

I miei conoscenti non mi conoscono poi così bene,
hanno tanti consigli su come vestirmi e su come mentire.
I miei conoscenti non mi conoscono affatto,
e le canzoni che ascoltavo un tempo non mi riconoscono più.

Ho lanciato quei pezzi di muro nel mare,
quando li avrei dovuti ingoiare.

Quel pomeriggio a Charneca
sarebbe stato un finale perfetto,
peccato per tutto il resto.

That breeze I haven't found again
froze the looks and the train seats.
It was just the first of many encounters.
I fell asleep under a sky set ablaze by the sun.

And I could have slept forever,
but one morning in late March,
the workers in the next-door apartment
accidentally broke through the wall.
I wasn't alone for the first time,
and I waited for you to leave
to gather plaster and bricks
and donate them to my collection.

My acquaintances don’t know me that well after all,
they have plenty of advice on how to dress and how to lie.
My acquaintances don't know me at all,
and my then-favorite songs don’t recognize me anymore.

I threw those pieces of wall into the sea,
when I should have swallowed them.

That afternoon in Charneca
would have been a perfect ending,
if it weren't for everything else.
